Purpose of the Role:

We are seeking experienced and highly adaptable Regional Legal Counsel to serve as a strategic legal partner for our Commercialization and Technology functions. In this role, you will navigate complex commercial landscapes, draft innovative technology agreements from scratch, and provide specialized legal guidance across multiple jurisdictions. You will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams and regional stakeholders, ensuring our commercial and technological initiatives are legally sound, compliant, and aligned with our strategic objectives.

What You’ll Do:

Commercialisation & Technology Contracting

  • Strategic Legal Advice: Provide proactive legal advice and risk assessment on issues involving Commercialisation and Technology initiatives.
  • Complex Commercial Agreements: Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of highly complex contracts to support Commercialisation functions.
  • Technology Agreements: Draft, review and negotiate bespoke technology and partnership agreements (e.g. data subscription agreements, technology collaboration agreements) and, where applicable, terms of service for B2B online platforms
  • Regulatory Affairs Support: Manage the end-to-end drafting, review, and negotiation of specialized service contracts for regulatory affairs.

Leadership & External Management

  • Mentorship: Coach, guide, and supervise internal legal counsel (where applicable) specifically on matters involving Commercialisation.
  • External Counsel Management: Instruct and manage external legal counsel when necessary, ensuring the delivery of timely, cost-effective, and highly specialized legal advice and work product.

Intellectual Property & Privacy

  • Specialized Legal Assistance: Assist the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel (Commercialisation/Distribution), and the Data Protection Officer (where required) on critical legal matters encompassing data privacy, trademarks, and broader intellectual property rights.

Cross-Functional & Regional Collaboration

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely and collaboratively with local legal counsels, Regulatory Affairs, Business Development, Tax, Finance, Compliance, Technology, Pharmacovigilance and Quality teams.
  • Regional Focus: Manage legal and commercial interests across multiple jurisdictions, including Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.

Note: This role maintains a particularly strong focus on Commercialisation agreements arising from Vietnam and Taiwan.

What will make you successful:

Must-Have:

  • Education: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification; qualified to practice law in at least one relevant jurisdiction.
  • Experience: At least 7 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally with a mix of top-tier law firm training and in-house experience. Background in technology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences industries is highly preferred.
  • Language Skills: English proficiency is required. Fluency in Mandarin is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate complex, non-standard agreements to align with internal risk positions.

Advantage to Have:

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of collaborating across multiple business functions (e.g., PV, Tax, BD, Tech).
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multi-jurisdictional environment.
